Don Wierenga
8/25/30 - 4/20/09 Updated 4/24/09 This tree bends from winds of time. Much like an old man bending into the sunset years of life "Children rarely want to know who their parents were before they were parents, and when age finally stirs their curiosity there is no parent." Don Wierenga - aka "Dad Feets" or "Boppy" - passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2009.
Thank you.
Genealogy Becky (Boerema) Haber has compiled a huge family data base (over 60,000 names) including over 5,000 of my DeKorne relatives. Go to http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?surname=roest&start=441 and select a name from the Ancestory.com index. You soon will be hooked by the "genealogical bug!" She Explains: I donated a swab of cheek cells to determine my "mitochondrial DNA haplogroup." In the project, they are studying the migration patterns of homo sapiens based on mutations of DNA. Basically, everyone has mitochondria, and it is inherited from the mother only. Males receive it from their mothers, but can't pass it on to their offspring. Females pass their mitochondrial DNA to all of their offspring. This DNA is passed down through generations, unchanged, except for occasional mutations. In the project they have grouped people according to mutations found in the mitochondrial DNA, and followed the migratory routes of the people in these groups. Now she has gone even deeper into our past by joining the National Geographic Genographic Project

Our Trips Panama Re-visited 2003 For over a hundred years this beautiful place, Glen Lake, 20 miles West of Traverse City, Michigan, has been instrumental In uniting the DeKorne family. Many second, third and fourth generation families have chosen this spot for their summer vacations and some have have made it their permanent residence. The old days: Five children of Peter and Celia purchased a small cottage fifty years ago and is the summer gathering place for our family. Deb describes it best: "Most Beautiful Place in The World" Anatomy of a Bird Castle Here |

I have a paper version of my experience. I like to call it a 'book' but that would be mis-leading.

The internet has made it possible for a tiny speck in this universe - -- me -- to tell you a bit of my story. It's been molded by many people, most significantly my family and relatives, whom I suspect may be here by intent. If, however, you happened to stumble upon this page and if I have aroused a particle of interest, I would love to hear from you.
